Introduces

Previous Litters.

Briar with only a few days to go

The kittens Journey begins with our life going on hold waiting for the queens to go into labour (approx 63 days after visiting Lordy). We have found our girls like us to be present at the birthing & Brent is chief Mid wife with Abbey.

Cinders with her litter 1 day old.

The kittens begin their days in one of our bedrooms in a cozy den with an electric blanket. For the first three weeks all they do is eat, sleep & put on weight.

Photo of very proud mum - Laura with her 9 babies at 6 days old

Laura has done very well looking after nine babies, she takes after her mother Briar & can count her kittens she feeds four, then organizes the other five and feeds them.

Photo taken 13 days old. Laura decided that she wanted all her kittens tucked up in our bed rather than in her nesting box. I must add the bed was made! I just pulled back covers to locate the kittens & snap photo

Caro with her litter at 11 days old.

They have been busy  feeding , sleeping and growing-

Their eyes are just starting to open.

All our kittens start off in one of our bedrooms where we can keep a good eye on them - they get use to humans handling them very early in life! We have had to move them into the dinning room at night because Caro kept bringing kittens into Abbey's bed in the middle of the night!!!

Caro is back to her old tricks, one of her favourite fetching balls is once again in the nest.

3 weeks old. Toy of the week is Buzzy Bee. Caro is too funny how she has to take toys to her kittens.

Week 3 Their ear canals are now completley open & sense of hearing is developing. Their sense of smell is developed.Their eyes are fully open and blue & will remain blue for some weeks.

Week 4 The kittens are starting to walk about - very wobbly.

It's time to move out of Abbey's bedroom as they can escape from their warm den - they cannot regulate their body temperature for the  first three weeks and we keep them warm with an electric blanket.

Kittens are now moved into he "Big kitten" pen in our bathroom.  They are beginning to meet more humans who visit the room - who can't resist petting a kitten? They can hear our dog, Mack who looks into the bathroom window. They are just begining to be toilet trained & eating solids.

This weeks toy of Caro's is Eyore.

Cinders with her litter at 4 weeks 2 days

Week 5 Their baby teeth are developing and they are getting the hang of eating & not missing the litter tray too often.

Weeks 6  The kittens are very busy & playful - now is a good time to ring us and pop up to visit the kittens.

Photo take at 6 weeks old. NB their eyes are not blue it was the flash on my camera kitten's eye colour  begin as a murky green & by about 20 weeks begin to get a deep lustrous gold of an adult Mandalay. (have a peek on Lordy's page for an example).

Week 7 They are now moved to the outdoor chalet which they love! More room for them to chase each other, more toys and lots of sunshine to sun bath in.

Week 8 Often their first car ride to the vets for their first check up & vaccination. Their personalities are really shining through and they just love to play.

Week 9 They have a visit to the vets for de-sexing. In the past we had contracts & owners did this at a later date. I am proud to say every owner honoured the agreement - but with the horrific event of the SPCA stepping in and removing 170 cats from a breeder who sold to pet shops. Plus talking to my vet of her experience of breeders been tricked into selling to dishonest people . We now de-sex all kittens. It's great for the kittens as they have mum to suckle on for comfort after their op.  Plus my paper work is all done before the kittens leave!

Week 10-14 The time owners have been waiting for -  usually owners taking two kittens can take them home week 10. And over the next few weeks kittens start to go to their new homes. Carolyon always has far too much milk so one or two kittens are still with Caro at 12 - 14 weeks. The mothers are often ready for their off spring to leave - they can even come back into call - we do not let them visit Lordy at this call. We are asked how can we give them up - I assure you there is normally a couple of naughty ones we can hardly wait to leave and a few that really tug on your heart strings. But for me one of the best parts of breeding is meeting such neat people and seeing the enjoyment we are giving their family with a MandaBurms.
